Duplicate listings of articles refer to multiple listings that in practice represent the same product, but with minor variations in name, description, article number, or other attributes. The purpose may be to increase product exposure, manipulate search results, or circumvent the platform’s rules and limitations.
This type of behavior negatively affects data quality and leads to a poorer user experience. Customers risk being presented with several identical products in search results and categories, making it more difficult to find relevant products and make well-informed purchasing decisions. Duplicate listings can also distort statistics, reporting, inventory management, and other business-critical processes.
The system continuously monitors product data to identify suspected duplicates based on, among other things, product names, descriptions, images, brands, categories, and other product attributes. Even items with minor adjustments or cosmetic changes may be classified as duplicates if they effectively refer to the same product. Intentional duplication is considered an attempt to manipulate the platform and violates our guidelines.
When duplicates are detected, listings may be unpublished, merged, or removed without prior notice. In cases of repeated or systematic violations, further actions may be taken, including restrictions on the merchant’s account.
To ensure compliance, we also reserve the right to charge an administrative penalty fee in the event of confirmed violations. The size of the fee may vary depending on the scope, frequency, and impact of the violation on the platform.
Our goal is to maintain a fair marketplace with high data quality, where each unique product is represented accurately and consistently.
